Pricing Suggestions

The traditional consignment rule of thumb is 25 - 40% of an items retail value is what you can expect to get at consignment events.  Brand name items can sometimes sell at an even higher percentage of the retail value (45-60%).  Larger ticket items like strollers and highchairs tend to sell at higher percentage values as well as long as the item is in good condition.  Here are a few other pricing tips:

  • Try not to get caught up in an emotional attachment, which we all have, to your stuff
  • Consider your reason for consigning, clearing out the clutter or making some extra money
  • Ask yourself as fairly as possible, "How much would I pay for this item used?"
  • Consider using the half-off option so your items are marked to sell at 50% off on the final day of the sale.  This can help if you've overpriced an item or just clearing final inventory.
  • The minimum price that can be set for an item is $1 and you can choose the item's price in $.50 increments after that
  • Package similar items together to sell faster
  • If you're really unsure of how to price your items do a quick EBay or Craigslist search and use those prices as a guide
